Teen Dating Violence Awareness Contest:We Need Your Help!

Domestic Violence services of Greene County is hosting their annual Teen Dating Violence Awareness Contest. This contest is open to junior high through college students in Greene, Fayette, and Washington Counties. Currently, broadcast students from our district have submitted 10 entries into the contest. All submitted videos consist of original ideas that incorporated either public domain or copyright free material.

In previous years, our students have done very well in this competition. This year, however, we are seeking help from both the district and the community. Though videos are being judged by a panel from the Domestic Violence Services department, those judges are also factoring in YouTube likes. Please take a moment to look through the videos and give a “thumbs up” where you deem appropriate.

Our broadcast department thanks you for your time!

Congratulations Kyleigh Kozel

Sophomore, Kyleigh Kozel was recently the guest of the Italian Firearms manufacturers F.A.I.R., Sabatti, Tanfoglio, and Davide Pedersoli for a 10-day trip to northern Italy. While she was there, Kyleigh visited Milan, Vicenza, Venice and Gardone Val Trompia. In the city of Vicenza, Kyleigh was the hosted American guest of the Italian Exhibition Group to attend the International Trade Fair for hunting, individual protection and target sports. While in Italy, Kyleigh toured the F.A.I.R. arms manufacturing company in Gardone Val Trompia, who sponsors her Sporting Clays competitions. Miss Kozel represents their company as their Youth Ambassador in the US.

One highlight of her time in Italy was attending a day of classes at the high school in Brescia with her friend Carola Rizzini. Kyleigh said, “The classrooms were very simple with really nothing on the walls, and they only had a few classes a day which rotates during the week.” “Everyone was very friendly and interested in what we do in school in America, they take English as a language and couldn’t stop asking questions all morning long about my classes, teachers, and America.”

The school had a different type of schedule, but basically was at the same level of instruction in comparison to here at Carmichaels Sr. High. The trip ended with a beautiful view of the snow covered Italian and French Alps from the window seat of her flight home.
Our Carmichaels community is very proud of Kyleigh’s accomplishments.
