On a brisk Sunday afternoon the aroma of homemade soup and fresh coffee greeted patrons of the Cookie Walk Luncheon sponsored by the Town and Country Garden Club at the Carmichaels Activity Center.
The Cookie Walk featured dozens of homemade cookies baked by club members. Customers lined up for cookies and lunch. This was the 14th annual Cookie Walk Fundraiser to support the club’s Scholarship Fund. A $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior from one of the five Greene County Schools. The 2017 recipient Brady Watters from Carmichaels Area High School. This was the 27th award; the first in 1991 was Kevin Willis of Carmichaels Area High School, being the first recipient. Volunteers for the event were Brady Watters and National Honor Society Students from CAHS.
The quilt raffle featured a queen-size quilt, a “Double Irish Chain” made and donated by club member, Marion Walker. This was the sixth quilt Marion donated to the club’s fundraiser. A Chinese Auction and door prize completed the event.This event is made possible by the dedicated support of the patrons from our local communities.
