Grades 9-12:

  • Planning for college? A career? The SAT, ACT, PSAT, or AP Exams?  EVEN YOUR HOMEWORK? You now have free access to an online resource center that can help you with all your preparation: Carmichaels is pleased to announce that Peterson’s Student Edge is available for all high school students. StudentEdge gives you access to test preparation, college searches, a scholarship search, financial aid tools, a career assessment, and a resume builder—all in one location and totally free! Students will also get a personalized to-do list that will guide them through the planning process. Even 9th grade students can get a head start on college and career prep with the online practice tests and career assessment. You can access StudentEdge by going to www.mystudentedge.com. First time users should stop in the Sr. High office to get our access code.

  • Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores, don't forget that The Challenge Program wants to give you a check for $250.00 for your hard work during the school year in the categories of Attendance, Academic Improvement, Community Service, and Academic Excellence.   • Need help with Spanish homework??  There are free Spanish tutoring sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Bowlby Library in Waynesburg. Call to register- 724-627-9776

Grades 7-12:

  • NEW: Free tutoring is available in all academic subject areas on Mondays from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Flenniken Public Library.  If school is closed or cancelled, tutoring is closed or cancelled accordingly.  This program is sponsored by Flenniken Library and Waynesburg University and is not affiliated with any school district.  Call 724-966-5263 with questions.

Grades 10 & 11:

The University of Pittsburgh Health Career Scholars Academy (UPHCSA) and the Pennsylvania School for Global Entrepreneurship (PSGE) at Lehigh University, former Governor’s School programs, are accepting applications for the 2012 summer programs. Current high school sophomores and juniors are encouraged to apply.  Application due date is February 15, 2012, but all are encouraged to apply early.  Limited partial scholarships are available for students of need.

Grades 10-12:

  • New: Bowlby Public Library is offering a FREE S.A.T. preparation course to help students planning to take the S.A.T. this year.  The course consists of three Saturday sessions from 10am to 2pm on February 4th, 11th, and 25th and will cover math, language arts, and writing.  Pre-registration is required and flyers with additional information are available in the Guidance Office.  Students attending all three classes will receive a free set of Barron’s Study Guides.  Call Bowlby Public Library to register to learn what to expect or to improve your score on the S.A.T.! 

     

     

  • Outstanding female Juniors and Seniors, who meet the qualifications, are eligible to enroll in tuition-free courses at Chatham University.  See Mrs. VanSickle for more details.
