Student Wins Essay Contest
How do you honor war veterans? This was the theme for the Patriot Pen contest given by the VFW this year. This year I entered the contest and won the local portion, from then my essay traveled to regions where unfortunately its journey ended. I was very pleased to have won the local portion and to attend the banquet given for the students whose essays had won their local and or regional competitions. This essay served as a great learning experience it made me think about all the ways to remember and honor veterans. Also, it helped me find new ways to help veterans. In so many ways these people who risked their lives for our country are being pushed down the priority list, when they should be near the top. We should take the time to take care and remember those who took the time to care enough to put their lives on the lines for us. So think about the last time you did something nice for a veteran? I would like to give special thanks to my teacher Mr. Gulino for helping me submit my essay and to my local VFW, and Ladies Auxiliary for honoring my essay this year.
