The Carmichaels Area
cheerleading program consists of two squads: The Junior High Team
(grades 7 &8) and The Varsity Team (grades 9 - 12.) Try-outs are held
annually in the spring for all students interested. Those trying out
are judged on a cheer, a chant, 2 jumps, and our victory dance (all
which are taught at preceding practices.) The girls practice all
summer to compete at the King Coal Cheerleading Competition held by
the Carmichaels Area Chamber of Commerce. This year, at the 22nd
Annual Competition, our Varsity Team was crowned Overall Varsity
Champs, and our Junior High Team won Overall Junior High for their
division.
The Carmichaels Cheerleaders are led by
sixth year coach, Andrea Devecka. Andrea is assisted by Mrs. Carrie
Ricco and the CAHS
